Testimonials

"I would highly recommend Jaclynn to any dog owner. She truly adjusts her training strategies to the personal needs of the dogs & owners.  She helped me with our two very different rescued dobermans – with different issues.  She helped our insecure boy learn to enjoy new experiences & helped me to relax in those new situations with him.  She also helped my very secure, confident girl pay attention to me – even when there were other more exciting things to do.  Jaclynn was always calm, kind, gentle, patient but firm & FUN.  My dogs absolutely love her & so do I!"

"Both Chloe and I have been trained by Jaclynn over the years. From basic obedience, to off leash commands, to day excursions, Jaclynn was fantastic in establishing the fundamentals, solidifying Chloe’s and my obedience knowledge and giving us a solid foundation for safe off leash activities and adventures. Chloe always made herself at home at Jaclynn’s. I highly recommend Sassafras Dog Training and trust Jaclynn to take great care of your fur babies."

"Jaclynn worked with our black lab Annie for an 11 day board and train and the whole experience was outstanding! She kept me updated with photos and videos and even wrote me a long summary of all the things she had taught Annie during her stay so I could reference the details later. Annie is now such a pleasure to walk on and off leash and our relationship is better than ever because of her training. Annie had so much fun during her board and train that I was worried she wouldn't want to leave! I would highly recommend Jaclynn to anyone!"

"We couldn't be happier with Jaclynn's professionalism and skill! It was incredible how much we learned (both us and our pup) in just a couple of hours."

"We initially contacted Jaclynn to help us with our two-year-old Old English Sheepdog who was having problems letting people in the front door without jumping on them, licking them, sitting on their feet, etc. In our first private lesson, she was able to show us how to best handle him at the door. She was able to get him to sit and wait for people to come in the door. She quickly had the jumping under control and we were then able to continue positively reinforcing this every time the doorbell rang.

We liked that Jaclynn came into our home to train, or that we could drop off at her house. She would take Auggie to public places like the park, Home Depot, or Petsmart and train with distractions. Jaclynn was also able to teach Auggie to load up into the back of our car on his own so we could discontinue lifting him in. She reinforced the come command and worked on recall during a boarding stay. This was the first truly positive boarding experience our dog had. We also enrolled him in group training. Group class outings consisted of local farmers markets, and outdoor malls. We would work on sit/stay, down/stay, leave it, and come, leading and following. She definitely taught us, not just our dog.

Jaclynn treated our Auggie like he was her own. I would trust her whole heartedly with our dogs. We would highly recommend Jaclynn for any training needs!"

"We adopted a 1-1/2 year old Lab/Pointer mix and named him Yeager. He has the Lab attitude with the energy of a Pointer! Definitely nothing like the temperament of our 3 year old yellow lab mix, Abbey. Yeager’s previous life was one without structure, training, manners, and lots of neglect. He would gobble his food, eat Abbey’s food, push Abbey around and was quickly driving all of us nuts. We needed help!

We knew shortly after adopting Yeager that we would need training for him; however, we were still apprehensive. We were getting by with the basics on Abbey, or so we thought. The truth was Abbey did what she wanted, when she wanted to. We definitely couldn’t let her off leash without her following her own agenda. Enter Jaclynn Peterson into our lives! She completely rescued us. She came highly recommended by other trainers and was very welcoming, easy to talk to and knew her stuff. Within a short period of time she was training both Yeager and Abbey, and us; providing both dogs with structure, manners and happiness. And providing us with sanity, less anxiety and general knowledge of how a dog thinks and why they do what they do.

We did 1:1 lessons for a while and then day trains on a regular basis with both dogs together. The day trains are awesome. She takes both of them for a few hours, giving us a break, working with them, giving them structure, exercise and improved attitudes. They come back happy and tired! It’s during these day trains that she introduced them to off leash training. What a difference this has made for our boating and nature excursions!

We can’t express enough the difference she has made in our lives and the lives of Yeager and Abbey. Don’t hesitate. Make the decision and call Jaclynn today. You’ll thank yourself."
